Why It Works
The “And Belong” Windmill & Well Craft uses Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) and Attachment-Based Techniques to help children develop emotional security, empathy, and confidence in relationships.
The windmill symbolizes giving and contribution, while the well represents receiving care and emotional nourishment. Together, they model balance and interdependence—the foundation of belonging.
This activity supports:
- Emotional safety and identity formation, by connecting play with real family and community experiences.
- Empathy and gratitude, through storytelling and reflection.
- Social inclusion, by modeling cooperative and kind behavior.
- Self-worth, by showing that each contribution is valuable and unique.
- Family connection, through shared storytelling and symbolism.
The finished scene becomes a comforting visual reminder that belonging comes from giving, caring, and being accepted as you are.
This project reminds your child:
“I am part of something bigger. I belong. I am loved and needed just as I am.” - Emotional safety and identity formation, by connecting play with real family and community experiences.
