Why It Works
The “And Choose” Makeup Case Craft uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Decision-Making Training techniques to help children strengthen autonomy, confidence, and self-trust through creative play.
Each decision—from color selection to placement—gives children a low-pressure way to practice reflective thinking and emotional regulation. As they decorate their case, they’re learning that their voice and preferences have value.
This activity supports:
- Confidence and autonomy are encouraged by the ownership of creative decisions.
- Cognitive flexibility, by modeling that mistakes can be opportunities.
- Emotional regulation, through calm, focused, step-by-step creation.
- Identity and self-expression, helping children show who they are visually.
- Growth mindset, by reinforcing the idea that choices build progress, not perfection.
The makeup case becomes more than a craft—it’s a personalized symbol of self-confidence and independence.
This project reminds your child:
“I can make choices. I can trust my ideas. I am confident in who I am.” - Confidence and autonomy are encouraged by the ownership of creative decisions.
