  • What to Say and Ask During the Craft

    1. Start with the Theme of Gentle Care
“These horses live in a cozy stable. What do they need to feel happy and safe?”
“What would you do every day to take care of them?”
Encourages emotional awareness and responsibility through nurturing imagination.
    2. Talk About Daily Routines of Caring
“When do the horses eat? Who brushes their mane?”
“What happens when they get tired or scared?”
Teaches consistency, patience, and empathy for emotional and physical needs.
    3. Focus on Emotional Connection
“How do you think horses know their caretaker loves them?”
“What helps them trust the person who takes care of them?”
Builds understanding of trust and emotional safety in relationships.
    4. Model Gentle Responsibility
“Taking care of animals means paying attention and being gentle. What are some gentle things we can do for others?”
Links nurturing behaviors to everyday acts of kindness at home and school.
    5. Explore Nonverbal Communication
“Horses don’t talk like we do—how do they show when they’re happy, calm, or scared?”
“How can you tell what someone needs, even when they don’t say it?”
Develops emotional intelligence and sensitivity to others’ feelings.
    6. Celebrate Teamwork and Connection
“Both horses share this stable—they live together like a little family.”
“How do they help each other feel calm and safe?”
Highlights the value of companionship, cooperation, and mutual care.
    7. Encourage Reflective Comparison
“Just like you care for these horses, who takes care of you?”
“How do you take care of yourself when you need rest or comfort?”
Fosters self-care awareness and gratitude for relationships in real life.
    8. Promote Nurturing Creativity
“What special touches can we add to make the stable warm and welcoming?”
“Do they need a soft blanket, some flowers, or food in their stall?”
Encourages creative self-expression through empathy-driven design.
    9. Affirm Their Nurturing Role
“You’re such a kind caretaker. Look how happy your horses look because of you.”
“You thought about everything they might need—that’s real kindness.”
Reinforces self-worth through positive identity as a helper and protector.
    10. Reflect on the Power of Care
“What happens when we take care of someone or something every day?”
“Why does caring for others also make us feel happy?”
Encourages emotional insight into compassion and reciprocal care.
  • Why It Works

The “And Care” Horse Stable Craft uses Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) and Attachment Theory principles to strengthen empathy, responsibility, and emotional regulation.

Through hands-on care-based play, children practice nurturing behaviors that mirror real emotional development—understanding that care requires patience, attention, and love.

This activity supports the development of compassion, empathy, and emotional reflection through role-play.

    • Emotional regulation, through gentle, structured, and purposeful play.
    • Responsibility is achieved by simulating the daily needs of others in a safe, playful manner.
    • Self-worth and belonging, as children see themselves as capable and kind caregivers.
    • Connection and trust, through imaginative interaction between caretaker and horses.

The completed stable becomes a symbol of love and responsibility—a peaceful world where kindness and care keep everything safe and happy.

    This project reminds your child:
“I can care for others with kindness and patience. My gentle actions make the world feel safe and loved.”
